Many of the oil and water interaction patterns resemble natural objects, forms and textures.  They may even seem more real than photos of the actual things.  A photo is a representation of a real object that expresses that object's visual surface appearance.  The oil and water patterns are records of real events that express nothing other than themselves.  Yet if, because of the visual similarity to real natural objects we allow ourselves to see the oil and water interaction patterns as these objects, we may find ourselves experiencing real natural entities at a deeper than just sensory level.  Natural entities are also self-organizing systems, dynamically expressing only themselves in interaction with their environment.
