Life Experience:
1980-1987 Mother of a child with developmental disabilities. My son had
Sandhoff's Disease which is a fatal, lipid-storage disease similar to Tay Sachs.
1971-Present Spinal cord injury from parachute malfunction. Currently, need two
canes and leg braces for short distances and hand-powered wheelchair for longer
distances.
Community Experience:
2000-Present Wisconsin Council on Physical Disabilities — 3 years as Chair
1995-Present Hodan Center Board of Directors — 5 years as Chair
2004-2006-Governor's Committee for People with Disabilities
1984-Present Iowa County Long-term Support Committee
Work Experience:
1977-1996 ... Program & Planning Analyst for the State of Wisconsin.
Responsibilities included: Coordinated AFDC-U entrepreneurial and
development zone projects,
Prepared Wisconsin's State Plan for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
and oversaw LIHEAP computer systems operations,
Provided/procured training for community-based organizations (CBO) and
coordinated development/funding of CBO management information systems.
Received three (3) exceptional performance awards.
